For the completion of my Masters in International Relations at the Johns Hopkins SAIS School, I was required to pass a proficiency exam in French (reading, writing, comprehension and grammar) in order to graduate. I had not studied French since high school. I therefore enrolled in a four week private course in Nice under Catherine's instruction. Her methods were incredible, and in no time I was picking up all of skills I had lost. In addition, the immersion in a French speaking city made every moment of my time there a learning experience. I was able to pass the exam in my first year of study at
SAIS, and I owe this, in a large part, to Catherine's exemplary teaching skill.

I worked with Catherine in Nice for 3 weeks learning the French language, such as pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary and conversational skills. The amount of information I was given (in the only 3 weeks that I was able to attend with her) was abundant, yet not overwhelming. My French conversational skills grew immensely, as well as, vocabulary and knowledge of the structure of the language. My confidence in speaking the language was also increased. She is very intuned to her students needs and thier levels of speaking. She ensured that I spoke French precisely, correcting my pronunciation and grammar mistakes. She taught me beyond the window of the Flight Crew course, so that I could communicate in normal everyday conversation. I HIGHLY recommend her as a teacher, as she is an excellent teacher, with the necessary skills to bring all levels of students to a strong conversational level and beyond. She does a really good job of ensuring the classes are not boring. She maintained my attention and increased my willingness to learn beyond what I had originally expected. It was fun and I am very grateful for everything I learned from her and for the level that I can now speak.

Catherine Marango was my professional French teacher for two months. My name is Capera Clement, I spent one month in Nice studying with Catherine. Her class was very well run,and the oral excercises were very useful in everyday converasation. I have been working in New York City and Washington,DC since I studied in France over a year ago. I worked with Catherine one-on-one for 4 weeks while pursuing my Masters in International Economics. This degree required that I pass my proficiency
exam in French prior to my matriculation. I had not spoken French since high school (13 years prior). If you are looking for the most efficient and enjoyable way to learn French, then I think you'll be interested in reading about my experience.

In January this year, I was lucky enough to spend a fabulous week learning French with Catherine. I am currently in my final year of school and wanted to work on my conversation skills for my oral exam in October. Many of my classmates were spending 6 weeks on a French exchange, living with French families, and I knew I would need an excellent, intensive program to avoid falling behind.

Well, I've been back at school for 2 weeks and I absolutely love French. I'm easily able to keep up with the students who spent several weeks in France , and my teacher has been amazed by my improvement. This was the most fantastic way to prepare for my exams. It was quick and so much fun, and far more effective than having to spend my holidays with strangers. Catherine is truly one of the loveliest people I have ever met and I felt like I was leaving a close friend behind when I had to say goodbye at our last lesson.

I can't thank Catherine enough for her brilliant teaching, professionalism and for her kindness to me. I'll definitely be staying in touch with her and really hope to visit again.
